What does Protandim do?

Protandim interacts with the DNA in your cells and causes the cells to make more of a set of genes called survival genes.

What are the immediate benefits of Protandim?

The immediate benefits of Protandim are experienced within several days. The biochemical markers of oxidative stress begin to decrease, and while there are immediate improvements, you may not sense that these things are happening - just as you cannot sense what your cholesterol level is, whether it is high or low.

Why should I take Protandim long term?

Can Protandim be given to children?

Protandim can be given to children. Dr. McCord states that children under the age of 20 generally do not need Protandim, unless they have an oxidative stress related condition.

Is it possible to have an allergic reaction to Protandim?

The only known reaction is if a person is allergic to one or more of the ingredients (turmeric, ashwaghanda, green tea, milk thistle or bacopa). These ingredients are in such small doses that reactions are rare and can sometimes be alleviated by half dosage while still receiving the benefits of Protandim

Can Protandim be taken with prescription medication?

There are no known adverse drug interactions caused by Protandim. We recommend always checking with your doctor prior to use.

Does Protandim effect uric acid levels?

The induction of human superoxide dismutase and catalase in vivo study states that no statistically significant change in uric acid was produced. If your uric acid is measured on two successive days it will not be the same. The reference (normal) range for uric acid is 3.6 to 8.3 mg/dl. A 5% fluctuation shown in the study, even if it were mathematically significant (which it isn't) would not be clinically significant.

Do any of the Protandim studies show that it lowers other age related markers besides TBARS?

The last patent issued for Protandim was for the lowering of C-reactive protein levels - a blood test marker for inflammation in the body.

Does the human body build up a tolerance to Protandim where after a period of time users will need to increase their intake to achieve the same result?

No tolerance is built up to Protandim over time.

How does Protandim send a message to our cells to activate Nrf2? Can these pathways be blocked by heavy metals?

Protandim activates several kinase pathways that result in the phosphorylation of Nrf2, allowing its translocation to the nucleus where it binds to and regulates genes with an ARE sequence in their promoter. These pathways are not blocked by heavy metals.

If I purchase more than one bottle of Protandim at a time, will it spoil?

Protandim has a very long shelf life, >3 years. Storage at high temperatures may shorten that somewhat.

Can I get my TBARS tested?

Protandim's effect on TBARS is documented in two peer-reviewed published papers, one a human clinical trial and the other a mouse model of DMD.

TBARS is performed in highly controlled research labs, they do not offer the test to an individual, nor do they have a mechanism for charging for it.

What is Protandim?

Protandim is the only supplement in the world clinically proven (in a peer-reviewed, human clinical study) to reduce aging factors by an average of 40 percent. Protandim has been awarded three patents, is all-natural and is a proven solution in the race against aging.

What is Protandim?

The definition of Protandim has changed.
